What is the CIN?

The CIN (Codice Identificativo Nazionale) is a National Identification Code that all non-hotel accommodation providers in Italy must obtain, including holiday rentals. It was introduced under Decreto Anticipi No. 145/2023 to promote transparency and fairness in Italy's short-term rental market.

When does the CIN requirement apply?

The law took effect on November 2, 2024. All rental properties should have obtained their CIN by January 1, 2025.

How do I get my CIN?

Apply for your CIN through the Ministry of Tourism's online platform, Banca Dati Strutture Ricettive (BDSR). Once you receive it, you must:

• Display the CIN outside your property.
• Include the CIN in all your rental listings, both online and offline.

What safety requirements apply?

Along with the CIN, all tourist rentals must meet these safety requirements:

• Combustible gas and carbon monoxide detectors must be installed.
• Fire extinguishers must be present.
• Professional rentals (those managed as a business) must meet additional safety installation requirements.
