CIN - National Identification Code for Italian Properties

Italy's Ministry of Tourism has introduced a mandatory registration system for short-term rental properties. The CIN (Codice Identificativo Nazionale) is a national identification code that all non-hotel accommodation providers must obtain to legally operate rental properties in Italy.

What is the CIN?

The CIN is a unique identifier assigned to each rental property by the Ministry of Tourism. Under Decreto Anticipi No. 145/2023, all holiday rentals and non-hotel accommodations must be registered and display this code to ensure transparency and fair competition in Italy's rental market.

Key Deadlines and Requirements

Effective Date: The regulation came into effect on November 2, 2024. All rental properties were required to obtain their CIN by January 1, 2025.

What You Must Do:

• Apply for your CIN through the Ministry of Tourism's online platform, Banca Dati Strutture Ricettive (BDSR)
• Display the CIN outside your property
• Include the CIN in all your rental listings

• Install combustible gas detectors
• Install carbon monoxide detectors
• Have fire extinguishers available
