What are the Host Responsibilities?

As a host, you play a key role in giving your guests a great stay. Here is how you can make the most of hosting with Holidu.

Booking Guidelines

Your Role and Responsibilities

You are not just hosting a property; you are providing an experience. The booking contract is between the host and the guest, with Holidu as an intermediary. You, or a designated person, should be reachable during your guests' stay – either directly or through someone in charge.

Smooth Arrival Communication

For a more personal experience, get in touch with your guests early about arrival expectations. Include details such as:

  • Estimated arrival time
  • How to collect keys
  • House rules

Be There for Your Guests

Be ready to help during your guests' stay. If issues come up at the property, please respond quickly so their stay stays stress-free. Your prompt communication and support can turn a good experience into a great one.

Avoid Host Cancellations

Cancellations disrupt plans for both hosts and guests. They can also impact your property's performance and lead to penalties. Aim to avoid cancellations whenever possible to maintain a positive reputation and ensure consistent bookings.

Providing Receipts and Invoices

If a guest requests a receipt, please provide an invoice showing the total amount paid. You can use Holidu's tool to issue it: How to issue an invoice for a guest.

Please note: Holidu only provides guests with a booking confirmation. Your invoice (provided by Holidu) is an individual fiscal document and should NOT be shared with guests.

Account Configuration Guidelines

Your Control and Responsibility

Final responsibility for the accuracy of your configuration belongs to you, the host. Our local teams are happy to guide and assist you, but please bear in mind that Holidu is not responsible for keeping your property's information and settings up to date.

Updating Account Settings

Everything that is configurable in your account can be updated by you, easily and quickly. Take time to review your settings regularly to ensure they reflect your current property status and policies.

Calendar Management

To prevent double bookings, keep your calendar accurate and up to date. As the host, you set your availability. If your property becomes unavailable – for example, due to renovations, maintenance, or private bookings – please block those dates right away. A current calendar makes for a smooth experience for you and your guests.

Modifying Property Details

If you change amenities, sleeping arrangements, or other configurable settings, please update the description text promptly. For assistance with this process, visit: How to generate your property description.

Please note: whenever critical information changes (e.g., pool or Wi-Fi no longer available, bedroom configuration, etc.), it is your responsibility to inform future guests with affected bookings. Holidu only steps in for very urgent cases, for example, when the check-in date is extremely close.

Keeping Rates Updated

Update your nightly rate, minimum stay, and extra fees in good time for upcoming seasons. Guests like to plan their holidays in advance, so timely rate updates help attract bookings and demonstrate professionalism.

Important: Once a booking is confirmed, the booking price can no longer be changed.

Summary

Your responsibilities as a host center on three key areas: providing excellent guest communication and support during their stay, maintaining accurate property information and availability, and managing your account settings responsibly. By fulfilling these obligations, you ensure a positive experience for your guests and build a strong reputation on the Holidu platform.
