Important Notice (Updated October 2025)

In Italy, all accommodation providers are required by law to submit monthly statistical reports to the authorities. This guide will help you understand the requirements and how Holidu can simplify the process for you.

What is Statistical Reporting?

Statistical reporting in Italy is a legal requirement for all accommodation providers. Each month, you must submit data about your property and guests to track tourism trends at both national and local levels. This information helps governments and local administrations plan tourism more effectively and make informed policy decisions.

Even if your property was closed or had no guests during the month, you are still required to submit a report. The data is submitted to ISTAT (Italian National Institute of Statistics).

For more detailed information, you can refer to the ISTAT Reporting Guidelines.

What Information is Required?

Each month, you must report the following details about your property and guests:

  • Property name: Your accommodation's official name
  • Property type: For example, hotel, bed and breakfast, holiday home, or apartment
  • Days open or closed: A property is considered open if it was available for at least one day during the month. It is considered closed only if it remained closed for the entire month.
  • Total available rooms: The number of rooms available for that month
  • Total available beds: The total number of beds available for that month
  • Total number of guests: The number of guests who checked in during that month
  • Guest nationalities: The nationalities of all guests. If guests are Italian, the province where they reside must also be reported.
  • Total number of occupied nights: The total count of nights that were occupied by guests

How Do Hosts Get Credentials?

Each province in Italy has its own regional portal where hosts must register to obtain their login credentials. The registration process may vary depending on your local authority, but generally follows these steps:

  1. Identify the correct regional portal: Determine which portal is used in your property's province. Check with your local municipality or tourism office if you are unsure.
  2. Register as an accommodation provider: Create an account on the portal with your property details and contact information.
  3. Receive login credentials: Once registered, you will receive a username and password to access the portal.
  4. Use these credentials: You will use these credentials to submit your monthly statistical reports.

If you are uncertain about which portal to use or how to register, contact your local municipality or regional tourism office for guidance.

How to Submit the Report?

Each province in Italy has its own regional portal where accommodation providers must submit their statistical data. However, manually submitting these reports every month can be time-consuming.

Holidu offers an automatic statistical reporting feature as part of its regulatory support for the Italian market. This integration simplifies the process significantly.

How to Enable Automatic Reporting

By connecting your statistics account in Holidu, the integration automatically sends the required data for you. This means you can focus on running your property instead of worrying about manual submissions.

Automatic Reporting for Empty Periods

The Holidu ISTAT integration also reports to ISTAT when there are no guests during a given month. This ensures you remain compliant with reporting requirements even when your property is unoccupied or closed.

How to Connect Your Property to Statistics Reporting

Follow these steps to set up automatic statistical reporting for your property:

  1. Access the Statistics Connection section: Log into your Holidu account and navigate to the "Statistics Connection" section in your account settings.
  2. Set up the integration: Follow the prompts to connect your ISTAT credentials or regional portal account. This will enable the automatic guest reporting feature.
  3. Validate and save: Click on "Validate" to confirm the connection is working properly, then save your changes.

Once you have completed these steps, your property will be connected to automatic statistical reporting. Holidu will then automatically submit your monthly reports to the authorities on your behalf, ensuring you stay compliant with Italian regulations.
