Online Check-in - How to connect to AVS
Why Connect Your Property to AVS Germany?
Connecting your property to AVS Germany helps you meet your legal obligation to report guest information to your local authority, and gives you a documented, digital check-in process for you and your guests. This streamlined approach reduces paperwork, minimizes errors, and ensures compliance with German registration requirements across all compatible regions.
Is this available for my property?
The online check-in connection to AVS is visible for every host account in Germany. Two things need to be true before you can activate it:
- Your destination (Kurverwaltung, Tourismusbüro, or Gemeinde) must have activated the Holidu–AVS interface directly with AVS by emailing meldeschein@avs.de. This is a step only your destination can take — Holidu can't request it on your behalf.
- Once activated, your destination gives you a configuration overview with three values: Kurverwaltungs-ID, Firmen-ID, Objekt-ID.
If AVS doesn't appear as an option for your property at all, it likely means your destination hasn't completed step 1 yet — contact them directly and ask them to email meldeschein@avs.de.

How to Connect Your Property to AVS
Step 1: Get your configuration data from your destination
Before you start, request a configuration overview from your local tourist office. Ask explicitly for the "Holidu / AVS interface" credentials — this ensures they send you the right document.
The overview contains three required fields:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Kurverwaltungs-ID | ID number of the Kurverwaltung |
| Firmen-ID | ID number of your business/property |
| Objekt-ID | Unique ID of your specific property |
Tip: Have all three values ready before starting Step 2.
Step 2: Configure the connection in your Holidu App
- In your Holidu App, go to Account.
- Go to Online check-in for travelers and click Configure.
- Select the property you want to configure, and click Configure again.
- Click Connect to a registration authority and fill in your property info.
2.1 Choose your guest signature method
- Automatic signature (recommended): the guest clicks and signs during online check-in — less friction, higher guest satisfaction.
- Manual signature (not recommended): each guest must add their signature by hand.
- Note: This setting applies to your entire account, not just one property.
2.2 Turn on "Connection to a registration authority"
Toggle this on for the property.
2.3 Choose your data transmission method
- Automatic sending (recommended): data is transmitted to AVS automatically.
- Manual sending (not recommended): you must open and send each booking individually.
2.4 Select AVS and your municipality
- Under "Send information to," select AVS.
- Select your municipality (Kommune).
- If your municipality doesn't appear: your destination's connection with AVS may not be fully set up yet. Contact your destination or serviceteam@holidu.com.
2.5 Enter your configuration data
Enter the three values from Step 1 (Kurverwaltungs-ID, Firmen-ID, Objekt-ID). Once saved, a table of available registration categories loads automatically from AVS — you can adjust these manually if needed.
Step 3: Save your settings
Click Save changes. Under Details in the overview, you'll see confirmation that the connection was set up successfully.
Step 4: Digital guest card or manual registration form
If your destination offers a digital guest card, you can turn it on in the same section.
If automatic sending isn't available or isn't working, you can still register a guest manually: open the relevant booking, generate the registration form (Meldeschein) as a PDF, and print it for your guest.
Step 5: What your guests experience
- The guest gets an online check-in link with their booking confirmation.
- They fill out the online check-in form.
- If automatic sending is on, their data goes to AVS automatically.
- If enabled, they receive a digital guest card.
You can check registration status per booking in your booking overview, and resend the check-in form to a guest at any time from there.
Need help? Who to contact
- Your municipality doesn't appear as an option: Contact your destination directly, or serviceteam@holidu.com.
- AVS doesn't show as an option at all: Your destination hasn't yet activated the interface with AVS — ask them to email meldeschein@avs.de.
- Any other setup question: Contact your Account Manager, or serviceteam@holidu.com if your property isn't managed by a dedicated AM.
Frequently Asked Questions
What do I need before I start?
You need your Kurverwaltungs-ID, Firmen-ID, and Objekt-ID from your destination — see Step 1. These three values are essential for setting up the AVS connection. Request them from your local tourist office, Kurverwaltung, or Gemeinde by explicitly asking for the "Holidu / AVS interface" credentials.
Is the connection secure?
Yes — guest data is transmitted over an encrypted connection. Your information and your guests' personal data are protected during transmission to AVS.
Why can't I find my municipality in the list?
Your destination hasn't completed its AVS connection yet. Contact them directly and ask them to activate the Holidu–AVS interface with AVS by emailing meldeschein@avs.de.
Why isn't AVS showing as an option for my property at all?
Your destination hasn't yet activated the interface with AVS. This is a step only your local tourist authority can take. Ask your destination to email meldeschein@avs.de to request the Holidu–AVS interface activation.
Who gives me my three IDs?
Your local Kurverwaltung, Tourismusbüro, or Gemeinde provides these IDs — not Holidu or AVS directly. Request the configuration overview from your destination's tourist office.
Can I request AVS activation myself?
No — only your destination can request this. They must contact AVS directly by emailing meldeschein@avs.de. Holidu cannot make this request on your behalf.
What if automatic sending isn't working — can I still register a guest?
Yes, you can register a guest manually. Open the relevant booking, generate the registration form (Meldeschein) as a PDF, and print it for your guest to fill out. This ensures you remain compliant with local registration requirements even if automatic transmission is temporarily unavailable.
How do I resend the check-in form to a guest?
From the booking overview, open the specific booking and resend the form. Your guest will receive a new check-in link via email, allowing them to complete the online check-in process.
Can I use manual signature with automatic sending?
The signature method applies to your entire account. If you choose manual signature, guests will need to physically add their signature by hand, which may slow down the check-in process. Automatic signature is recommended for a smoother guest experience.
What happens if I don't set up AVS?
Without the AVS connection, you won't be able to transmit guest data digitally to your local registration authority. You would need to use manual registration forms for each guest, which increases administrative work and the risk of errors.
Can I change my settings after initial setup?
Yes, you can modify your AVS settings at any time. Return to Account > Online check-in for travelers > Configure and make the necessary changes. Click Save changes to apply your updates.
