How to Add a Manual Calendar Block

Adding a manual calendar block allows you to block specific dates when your property is unavailable for bookings. Follow these simple steps to add a block to your calendar:

  1. Log into your Holidu Host account and access your dashboard
  2. Navigate to the Calendar section at the top of your dashboard
  3. Locate the Availability area on the right side and click the Block button
  4. Choose your block type:
    • Manual Booking - for personal stays or personal use of your property
    • Date Block - to simply block dates without additional details
  5. Select your dates by clicking the start date, then clicking the end date you want to block
  6. Click Confirm dates on the right side of the screen
  7. Fill in any required information in the pop-up form that appears
  8. Click Save to apply the changes to your calendar

Your calendar will be updated immediately, and guests will not be able to book during the blocked dates.

How to Delete a Manual Calendar Block

If you need to remove a calendar block and make those dates available for bookings again, follow these steps:

  1. Log into your Holidu Host account and navigate to the Calendar section
  2. Find the specific blocked dates you want to remove and click on them
  3. Select Remove Block from the menu that appears
  4. Confirm your action if prompted by the system
  5. Ensure you save the changes so your calendar is updated

Once you remove a block, those dates will become available for guest bookings.

Important Considerations for Calendar Blocks

Keep these points in mind when managing your calendar blocks:

  • Prevent double bookings - Keeping your calendar updated ensures you do not accidentally accept multiple bookings for the same dates
  • Cleaning time between guests - If you require at least one day to clean your property before a new guest checks in, block that date as soon as possible. There is currently no automatic cleaning buffer feature available
  • Same-day turnovers - If you do not want to have a check-in on the same day as a check-out, manually block that date. This must be done manually as there is no automatic option
  • Long-term availability control - There is currently no way to set an automated opening or closing for bookings based on lead time (such as after 9, 12, or 18 months). To control availability beyond a certain timeframe, you must manually block or unblock the relevant dates
  • Price campaign control - If you want more control over when bookings are accepted, consider opting out of the copy price campaign and setting prices for only the periods you wish to accept bookings
  • Regular calendar reviews - Periodically review and adjust your calendar blocks to capture every possible booking opportunity
