How is your payout calculated?
Understanding how your payout is calculated helps you manage your earnings with confidence. Here's a straightforward breakdown of the process and factors that affect your final payout amount.
Payout calculation breakdown
Your payout is based on the nightly rate you set in your Holidu Host account. However, certain deductions and adjustments may apply. Here's how each component works:
Components that affect your payout
- Your configured nightly rate: This is the base price you've set for your property. For example, if you've listed your property at €350 per night, this amount forms the foundation of your payout calculation.
- Distribution channel commission: When your property is advertised on other booking platforms, they charge a commission for their service. This fee is added on top of your set price and won't reduce your payout—only what the guest pays increases.
- Discounts: If you've set up discounts (such as 10% off for stays of 7 nights or more), they are deducted from your base price before calculating the final payout.
- Holidu commission: Holidu applies a commission (typically 6%) to your base price, which is deducted from your payout.
- VAT: Where applicable, VAT is also deducted from your earnings.
Example payout calculation
Here's a practical example showing how your final payout is determined:
- Nightly rate (set by you): €350
- Stay duration: 2 nights
- Discount applied: €350 per night becomes €315
- Total earnings before deductions: €315 × 2 = €630
- Holidu commission (6%): −€35.91
- VAT (19%): −€33.99
- Final payout: €560.10
Why was my payout lower than expected?
Holidu uses a balance concept to streamline payments and avoid unnecessary back-and-forth transactions. If we've already paid a sum and changes occur to the booking or free cancellations apply, we deduct the difference from your next payout instead of requesting a deposit.
