What Happens If a Guest Cancels Their Booking?

When a guest cancels their booking, your payout is automatically determined by the cancellation policy attached to that reservation. Holidu handles all refund processing—you don't need to issue refunds manually.

How Cancellations Work

The Guest Initiates the Cancellation

Guests must cancel directly through the platform where they booked (Holidu, Airbnb, Booking.com, Vrbo, etc.). The system automatically applies the cancellation policy linked to their booking.

The Cancellation Policy Determines Your Payout

Each booking has a specific cancellation policy that dictates the refund amount the guest receives based on when they cancel. Your payout as the host follows this same policy. The policy was selected at the time the booking was made.

You'll Receive a Cancellation Notification

Once a guest cancels, you'll get an email confirming the cancellation. Log into your Holidu host account to view cancellation details and any payout adjustments.

What Happens to Your Calendar

Your calendar updates automatically when a cancellation is confirmed. The dates immediately become available for new bookings.

Find Your Cancellation Policy

To review the cancellation policy for any booking:

  1. Log into your Holidu host account
  2. Go to the Bookings section
  3. Scroll down to view the Cancellation Policy listed in the booking details

Key Points to Remember

  • Your cancellation policy determines both the guest's refund and your payout
  • Holidu processes all refunds automatically—no action needed from you
  • Cancelled dates reopen for new bookings immediately
  • You'll always receive email notification of cancellations
