What Happens If a Guest Cancels Their Booking?

When a guest cancels their booking, your payout and the guest's refund are determined by the cancellation policy attached to that specific booking. You don't need to process any refunds—Holidu handles all refund processes automatically according to the policy in place.

How Are Cancellations Handled?

1. The Guest Cancels Through the Booking Channel

Guests must cancel their booking directly through the platform where they made the reservation (Holidu, Airbnb, Booking.com, Vrbo, etc.). The system automatically applies the cancellation policy attached to that booking.

2. The Cancellation Policy Determines Your Payout

Each booking has a specific cancellation policy that defines the refund amount the guest receives—whether full, partial, or no refund—based on the timing of the cancellation. Your payout as the host is processed according to this same policy.

3. You'll Be Notified Immediately

Once a guest cancels, you'll receive an email notification. You can log into your Holidu host account and check the Bookings section to review cancellation details and any payout updates.

Find the Cancellation Policy for Any Booking

To review the cancellation policy applied to a specific booking, log into your Holidu host account, navigate to the Bookings section, and scroll down to view the Cancellation Policy listed in the booking details.

Key Points to Remember

  • Your cancellation policy applies to all guest refunds and your payout
  • Your calendar updates automatically once a cancellation is confirmed, making those dates available for new bookings
  • You're not responsible for processing refunds—Holidu handles this automatically
