How the Holidu Rating System Works

What rating scale does Holidu use?

Guests can rate their overall stay on a scale of 1 to 5, where 1 is the lowest and 5 is the highest rating. The overall property rating is calculated by averaging all individual scores submitted by guests.

Can I rate different aspects of my stay separately?

Yes. In addition to an overall rating, you can leave subscores for specific categories including location, cleanliness, description accuracy, and value for money. You can also add comments about your stay or specify your trip type, such as family, couple, or solo travel.

Who Can Leave a Review?

Am I eligible to leave a review?

Only guests who have completed a stay booked through Holidu can leave a review. If you booked via a partner website, their review terms and conditions will apply instead.

Do I have to use my real name in my review?

No. Reviews can be submitted anonymously or with your first name and the first initial of your last name, giving you privacy while sharing your feedback.

Can I edit or delete my review after submitting it?

Yes. To edit or delete a review you submitted through Holidu, please contact our Customer Service team for assistance.

What Reviews Are Displayed?

Where do the reviews on property listings come from?

We display reviews from both Holidu guests and trusted partner websites to give potential guests a complete picture of the property. This includes individual reviews with written text and scores, aggregated ratings from multiple guests, and information about the reviewer's trip type or country of origin.

How are reviews sorted on property pages?

Reviews are primarily sorted by date of booking and whether the review includes written text. Additional sorting filters may be available, such as guest type or rating score.

Why don't I see all negative reviews for a property?

For fairness, negative reviews with lower scores are only displayed if a property has at least two reviews. This prevents a single negative review from misrepresenting a property's quality.

Review Compliance Standards

What types of reviews are not allowed?

The following content is not permitted in reviews:

  • References to illegal activity
  • Politically or religiously sensitive remarks
  • Promotional content or external links
  • Personal details such as email addresses, phone numbers, or full names
  • Profanity, hate speech, threats, or violent language
  • Fake, spam, or impersonated content
  • Reviews written by hosts or reviews that were incentivized in exchange for a positive rating

What kind of reviews does Holidu encourage?

We welcome honest, travel-related feedback that reflects your genuine experience. The best reviews are original, unbiased, and provide relevant information that helps other guests make informed booking decisions.

Are reviews translated into other languages?

Reviews may be automatically translated using DeepL technology. However, Holidu and DeepL do not guarantee the accuracy or reliability of these translations. Automated translations are provided as a convenience to help guests understand reviews in different languages.
