Reach Amalfi on foot from this exclusive historic home, featuring extraordinary original features, sea-view terraces, and a heated mini-pool with 3 hydromassage jets and a waterfall.
For total immersion in the enchanting atmosphere of the Amalfi Coast, welcome to Villa Margherita.
Nestled among lemon-scented slopes, the villa climbs the hillside above a series of small beaches, with breathtaking views of olive grove and vineyard-covered hillsides stretching to the sparkling blue sea. Despite its panoramic position, the villa is conveniently located just 900m from Amalfi. Admire the stunning view from the picturesque stone mini-pool and dine al fresco on the terraces, with some of the finest Amalfi views.
A long, narrow terrace also connects the three bedrooms. Beautifully restored to preserve the romantic vaulted ceilings, antique beams, and original artisan plaster walls, the interiors are equally extraordinary.
The bathrooms feature elegant tiles and travertine basins, and the bedrooms and dining area boast remarkable antique furniture.
Located on the 1st floor of a house, the villa has two entrances: to the west, a small studio/living room with a kitchenette; to the east, the so-called "blue entrance," in the oldest part of the house, with another kitchenette and a beautiful chestnut wood table. The villa preserves many period features, characterized by refined simplicity and traditional construction techniques: lunette, barrel, and ogival cross vaults; restored original wooden lintels and doors; irregular stone walls and plasters made exclusively with traditional mortars, the result of millennia of masonry art, composed with lime, pumice, and local red earth; the old lime and pumice beaten floor in the vaulted ceiling; the blue/green plasters in some rooms, partly original, the result of superimpositions over the centuries, which in the west entrance, allow imagining the sea in the only room where it cannot be admired. Interiors and furnishings in a minimalist style created by the best local artisans. THE BLUE ENTRANCE, which gives access to the CIELO and SOLE bedrooms, characterized by irregular plasterwork and blue/green finishes that in many parts are still original.
Restored, these too, by master restorers/decorators Franco De Stefano and Michele Pontillo. 18th-century refectory chestnut table and kitchenette with a countertop made with antique "riggiole" tiles.
Travertine sink, induction hob, and drawer refrigerator. BEDROOMS AND BATHROOMS • Bedroom 1 (with en-suite bathroom): is the spacious suite with a king-size bed and a sofa bed. It can accommodate up to four people (preferably two adults and two children). Independent entrance from Via Maestra dei Villaggi or from the second bedroom. Small terrace at the entrance with an easterly view of a romantic garden dominated by ancient olive trees and a southerly view of the sea, with an outdoor shower and a stone whirlpool tub with a water blade and 3 hydromassage stations. Entrance with kitchenette and minibar. Lunette vaulted ceiling. Large single-leaf steel windows, minimalist profile. Wrought iron canopy bed made by the artist blacksmith Erasmo D'Amato from Maiori. Antique chest of drawers. • Bathroom 1: Bathroom with two rain showerheads, wall decorated with antique "riggiole" tiles, freestanding travertine basin, sculpted by a local artisan, ceiling with antique chestnut beams. • Bedroom 2 (with en-suite bathroom): CIELO is the central bedroom, with a fascinating finish created by master restorers/decorators Franco De Stefano and Michele Pontillo, who were inspired by the blues and greens of the past, traces of which still exist in some parts.
CIELO is dominated by an imposing and austere ogival cross vault, left with its original medieval plaster exposed.
The ancient beams that once supported the typical mezzanine of peasant houses.
Standard bed with fabric headboard.
Antique drop-leaf desk with "secrets" typical of this type of antique furniture.
Steel window frame with a minimalist profile.
Sea view terrace.
